Do you need a visa for Morocco?

Do you need a visa to travel to Morocco? What are the other conditions to visit Morocco? To answer these questions, I made a small list of all the useful information.

Citizens of around 70 countries can enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days. Here is the list of visa-free countries.

If your country is not listed as a visa-free one, please check more information here.

Don’t forget your valid passport. An ID card is not valid to enter Morocco.

Can you bring a drone to Morocco? No! Drones are BANNED in Morocco. If you bring a drone to Morocco, you will not be able to get it back. More information here.

In the airport, If you want to change your money,  you will need to provide your passport. Always check the change! By the way, the exchange rate at the airport is not the best. You can change some part in the airport and the rest in the city or use your bank card. There are many ATM’s in all cities.

In the airport, next to the luggage pick up place, you will find a few companies selling Moroccan SIM cards. Last time I saw Orange and Inwi booths. I would go for Orange! Don’t forget to insert the new SIM card o the spot and top it up. More info about SIM cards and the Internet in Morocco you can find in my article Stay Online when travelling in Morocco: SIM and Internet.

Never exceed your stay in Morocco for more than 90 days. If you do so, you must go to the police station, pay a fine and even go to the court requesting forgiveness :)))) Really not worth it!

Can you extend your stay in Morocco for more than 3 months? The only way is to obtain the carte Sejour (the staying card). It’s not easy to get this card,  you need either to be employed in Morocco, or to open your own company, or to be married to Moroccan.

Many expats don’t have patients to collect all the papers and simply leave the country every 3 months. It’s enough to leave Morocco for 1 day, or even for a few hours (more questions, though), to expend your 3 months stay. Many foreigners drive to Ceuta, the Spanish city in Nord of Morocco, do shopping and comes back after a few hours.

How to get from Marrakech airport to the city center? Read my post here.
